1) Find out what size your ring setting is and measure that distance from side to side with a ruler or measuring tape.
2) Find out what carat weight your diamond is and divide that number by 100 to find its circumference in millimeters.
3) Measure your ring setting’s circumference, then compare it to the circumference of your stone in millimeters; the larger number should be close to 100% of the smaller one. If they’re not close, then something might be wrong.
Additionally, the cut of your diamond could also indicate whether it’s a lab-grown or natural diamond. Lab grown diamonds typically have 60 facets on each side, while natural ones can have up to 128 facets on each side.
Diamond certification is the process of determining the authenticity and quality of an item. It’s also known as grading or grading reports.
The GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and HRDAG (Diamond High Council) are two types of certifications. GIA grades for natural, synthetic, and treated diamonds. The HRDAG only grades for man-made or lab grown diamonds.
